27th November 2012

A huge congratulations to everyone at Lingfield who I'm sure have worked extremely hard to ensure we have at least one meeting today. It's a boost to everyone involved in horse racing and should be a good day's racing.

14.00 Lingfield

An interesting five runner contest where the obvious pair to focus on are Sire De Grugy and CANTLOW. The former ran a really good race in defeat to Captain Conan at Cheltenham 9 days ago, and whilst I'm sure he has enough to take this encounter, that quick a turnaround on very testing ground and having to concede 7 pounds to AP's mount, means he is no value at a best price of 8/13. Instead Cantlow is taken to land this with the extra time between his runs meaning he should be fresher. He also ran a good effort behind Hazy Tom last time out, who could yet turn into a good novice chaser on softer ground. Cantlow also stays well beyond 2 miles and therefore shouldn't be wanting for this test, and the two were closely matched ratings wise over hurdle, so the upset is very much on the cards. Of the others, Dark And Dangerous hasn't looked the same horse this year over hurdles, so this switch to fences may help. He receives over a stone from the favourite and always performs well in soft ground. Somerby and Aikideau make little appeal. 9/4 Coral

15.00 Lingfield

I took PETE THE FEAT on last time out and he won with plenty of ease and a lot in hand that day. He faces a 7 pound rise in the weights but his claimer negates that so he gets to race off the same mark and can complete his 4-timer for the season. Well Refreshed seems the obvious threat coming into the race himself off a recent win. He receives a very helpful 13 pounds from the favourite and also gets to race off the same mark as last time, but that race was less competitive than the selection's and he will need to improve to take this. The Black Baron is avoided on his return and of the remaining two, Pensnett Bay is feared more. 5/4 Betvictor, Coral

Good luck!
