11th November 2012

Apologies yesterday to everyone would have visited The Horse Whisperer looking for Saturday selections. Late on Friday it became apparent I would not be able to have a look at the racing Saturday, and without a thorough review I did not want to put up selections that were not with my own full backing. There were some very good performances yesterday, including some for Cheltenham Watch, and they will be updated in the coming days.

Onto today's racing and here are the best selections.

VOLER LA VEDETTE is undoubtedly a top class horse, unlucky to have found herself in the staying hurdlers division at a time when Quevega and Big Buck's dominate the scene. She came close to causing the Great One an upset at the World Hurdle last year before being rest of the rest again in the World Series Hurdle behind Quevega. She regularly performs to a high level, only being further beaten over hurdles by Zaipdour and Hurricane Fly. The latter is of course another illustrious name in the hurdling division, and it is interesting to discover the former beat Voler La Vedette when racing with an official rating of 162. That gives us some level of the likely standard needed to take on this mare, and although Mossley and Whatuthink are good propositions, the only horse we can consider in this race to take on Colm Murphy's Bay mare is So Young. He represents the same connections as three of Voler La Vedette's conquerors, so it's not as if he won't know how to beat her. He came on leaps and bounds last year but ultimately came up short against the top class horses and this looks set to continue today, especially conceding 3 pounds to the selection. Voler La Vedette is one of those horses that epitomise consistency and on her usual form will take this. 8/13 several

Another small encounter focused around the favourite; if FLEMENSTAR is serious about taking part in the Gold Cup division he has to win this and with some in hand. Over two miles the infamous Big Zeb is no pushover but at 11 it will be a big ask in a race which should draw out the finishers from further out in a bid to let stamina come into play. Realt Dubh reappears after coming 4th behind Kauto Stone just over a week ago, and the drop back to two miles is a concern when his connections were always so keen to step him up. Although second favourite I will be taking him on in the forecast. Foildubh was narrowly beaten by Hidden Cyclone a fortnight ago and although that showed he has at least continued this season where he left off last year, he has been comprehensively beaten by the selection and looks to be set to fight for third here. Mr Cracker is out of his depth in this race. 10/11 Coral

No rocket science with two odds on shots, but together they should provide a profitable double and some simple forecast selections.

Good luck!
